Deep South Kiteclub

Welcome to the Deep South Kite Club!

Welcome to the Deep South Kite Club website forum. This site is about Wind, Kite Surfing & Freedom sharing your experiences, on and off the respected ocean. The kite surfing community in the Deep South has grown to significant numbers during the past 4 years and we thought it would be good to establish a platform where we can share our experiences, unite as forum to deal with issues on and off the water, relating to kite surfing.

The SAN Parks Board has indicated that they are only prepared to discuss kite surfing related issues with a recognised Club or Corporate. It will be good to get all you kiters  registered. We will inform shortly you of the information we will need from each kiter. Non-kiters are also welcome.

The site will be updated regularly and will provide a live platform for discussion, news in and around the Deep South. We are extremely privileged to live in the beautiful surroundings of the Southern Peninsula. As the kiting fraternity has grown and continues to grow in numbers we want to keep our kiters and beach lovers safe - at all times.

To ensure that we kite in harmony with our fellow ocean riders -surfers / windsurfers / swimmers / paddle ski's / surf ski's.

Always remember - when kiting -  respect the ocean riders mentioned above "They have right of Way". Please respect this rule. We have also ventured into new experiences of Cross off and Off shore kiting, where safety is of paramount importance.

Enough said! We look forward to your input, pictures, comments and news.

Last but not least, a very special word of thanks to Dr Patrice Hartmann for making this platform possible.

Support your fellow kiters and assist where possible. You will have made a difference.

Have a swell day!

André Van Breda

Responsible kiting

In the interests of keeping on good terms with the NSRI, let's be proactive about communicating with them to prevent, I quote, Cape Times last year "kiteboarders drain NRSI resources...unnecessary callouts for kitesurfers etc, etc."

POINT ONE: If you lose your kite/board, let the NSRI know. If they find it at sea two days later and send out a search party for you, they will be pretty frustrated when they eventually locate you at Doodles, having a sundowner!

POINT TWO: If you spot abandoned gear/retrieve it at sea, let them know as you may help them solve a case of gear reported missing.

Please contact NSRI on (021) 4344011 during office hours or (021) 4493500 24hrs. Save these numbers in your phone. If you need their details for KZN, check out the website..
